Cómo mandar a alguien a freir espárragos en inglés
¿Qué pasa si alguien te toca mucho las narices en inglés? Pues que un ‘leave me alone’ no concordaría con tu cara de vinagre del momento. Siempre es preferible dejar bien claro que no nos andamos con chiquitas y mandar a paseo con estilo, tal y como lo haría un nativo. So, let’s get down to business!
On your bike!
Literalmente: encima de tu bici.
– “Can I stay at yours for a month?”
– “On your bike!”
Go and jump in a lake!
Literalmente: ve y salta en el lago.
– “What time do you have to be back in heaven?”
– “Go and jump in a lake!”
Get lost!
Literalmente: piérdete.
– “Did I forget to mention that I’m going to the Caribbean this Christmas?”
– “Oh, get lost!”
Go away!
Literalmente: ¡lárgate!, ¡vete!
– “Madam you’ve dropped something.”
– “What is it?”
– “Your smile.”
– “Oh go away!”
Get stuffed!
Literalmente: ¡atibórrate!, ¡que te disequen! Un ‘stuffed animal’ es un animal disecado o también puede ser un peluche. Así que si alguien responde con un ‘get stuffed’ puede que te esté imaginando cuál zorro embalsamado en el salón de algún cazador. También se utiliza mucho ‘I’m stuffed’ cuando has comido demasiado y tienes esa sensación de pesadez.
-“I’ll give you 50 euros for that dishwasher and it’s my last offer.”
-“Are you serious? Get stuffed!”
Take a long walk off a short cliff!
Literalmente: da un paseo largo en un acantilado corto. Una forma muy poética de decirle a alguien que se suicide.
– “Can you look after my pitbull this weekend?”
– “Oh, why don’t you take a long walk off a short cliff?”
Take a hike!
Literalmente: vete a hacer senderismo.
– “Can you lend me 500 pounds?.”
– “Take a hike!”
Otra muy parecida es: ‘take a walk’ (vete a paseo.)
Give me some peace and quiet!
Literalmente: dame un poco de paz y tranquilidad.
– “You have to watch this video, it’s hilarious!”
– “Please can you just give me some peace and quiet? I’m trying to work!”
Y por supuesto hay muchas otras que seguro que no te hace falta que te recordemos que es preferible que reserves para situaciones ‘muy especiales’, porque son extremadamente ‘impolite’ y no queremos ofender a nadie. Algunas son: buzz off, clear off, bugger off, sod off, piss off, fuck off.
